About Us
History of Lake Travis Crisis Ministries
Lake Travis Crisis Ministries was established in 1988 in a small church, beginning as a simple “crisis closet” to serve single mothers and their children in need. Rooted in faith from the start, our founders trusted God’s calling to care for the hungry. When the church was forced to close its doors, they turned to prayer, asking God for guidance and a clear sign of His will. That same week, Monsignor McCabe reached out with news that Ladies of Charity Lake Travis was opening a thrift store, and they offered to share their proceeds with the ministry. This unexpected answer to prayer confirmed that God was not finished with the mission. Because of that answered prayer and the outpouring of generosity from our community, the ministry continued to grow. Though we’ve expanded far beyond our humble beginnings, our commitment to love our neighbors as Christ loves us remains the same.
